I stopped by the watsonville Certified Farmers Market today, my first such visit in months. While I was glad to see the market up and running, the skimpy showing of people was a bit disheartening. However, I was there before 1:30pm and figured it would pick up as the day wore on. The weather was great and set the stage for a relaxing open air market.

While there I ran into Paul De Worken, a local artist who offers the now-famous The Ville design, which has been printed on shirts, caps, sweatshirts, baby clothes, pins, stickers, coffee mugs, jackets, and much more. He now has a line of face masks for adults and kids. He has been selling his line at that market for years now.

“You have to change with the times,” he said, as he set out his display of coronavirus safety masks. He said he can print his designs of a host of goods right on the spot. Anyone is welcome to bring a shirt, mask, cap, or what have you for him to add his designs onto. I also noticed there were several produce flower stands as well as a wealth of prepared food stands at the market.

Sutter Health in Santa Cruz has now set up a Covid-19 vaccination station of grand scale at the former Skyview Drive-In theater and now Santa Cruz Flea Market lot on Soquel Drive near Dominican Hospital I hear they will be able to administer up to 1,000 vaccinations a day once they are fully operational.
