Aiming to improve safety and encourage alternative transportation, the County of Santa Cruz is installing a temporary protected bike and pedestrian path on Green Valley Road between Amesti Road and Pinto Lake City Park in Watsonville.
The project will allow residents to test recommendations from the county’s Active Transportation Plan, by using the installation and giving feedback about a possible permanent project.
The pop-up installation uses materials like paint and metal planters instead of permanent barriers or landscaping. The installation will be in place May 28-June 23.
A launch celebration will be held May 28 at the park from 5-7pm, with featured speakers including Pajaro Valley Unified School District (PVUSD) Superintendent Michelle Rodriguez.
A second project is planned for late June along Portola Drive between 36th Avenue in Santa Cruz.
