Lucille E. Beers passed peacefully June 13, 2017, at her home in Watsonville with family she loved by her side.  She was 97.  She was born in Plymouth, California, to Louis and Lucy Derania Bokariza.   The family moved to Watsonville in 1930, and Lucille graduated from Watsonville High School in 1937.
During World War II, Lucille worked at Camp McQuaide in Watsonville.  After working for a brief time for a local certified public accountant, she went to work for the City of Watsonville as an account clerk in centralized purchasing.
Lucille leaves two daughters, Marilyn (Dennis) Gurtner of San Antonio, Texas, and Barbara Meck of Aptos; three grandchildren, Kate and Lindsay Ramaekers, and Megan (Bret) Larsen; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was predeceased by her five brothers and sisters.  The family is most blessed and will be eternally grateful to have had our Baba loved and cared for by Emi Pawlik.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 21, at 10:00 a.m. at Valley Catholic Church.  Burial will follow at Valley Public Cemetery.  Mehl’s Colonial Chapel has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.  Donations are preferred to Paralyzed Veterans of America, 7 Mill Brook Rd., Wilton, NH 03086, the SPCA, or a charity of your choice.
