Watsonville Santa Tour wraps up Friday

WATSONVILLE—Scores of kids were treated to a free visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus Wednesday during the first of a three-day Santa Tour.

“It felt so good to see Santa,” said Maria Navarro of Watsonville who showed up with her son, Christian Ramos. “This is his first time to see Santa, so it was very special. Everyone was so excited.”

The tour, which also unfolded Thursday and runs Friday, will ultimately visit 26 schools, parks, business locations and neighborhoods.

Put on by the city of Watsonville Parks & Community Services Department, with help from the Watsonville Firefighter’s Association, the Claus couple rolled through town aboard an early-day open-top fire engine.

An added surprise this year was the company of the Grinch, garbed in a dazzling costume, accompanied by a handful of elves. The troup, in accompaniment of booming music, staged a choreographed dance skit that drew waves of laughter, cheers and plenty of high-fives from the Grinch with area children.

Friday night’s tour runs from 4-7pm. It will start at the Senior Center.
