A traffic stop on a driver who ran a red light Monday ended with Watsonville Police arresting four people, and seizing a loaded gun from a 13-year-old, 92 grams of cocaine and nearly 20 grams of marijuana.
Michelle Pulido, spokeswoman for Watsonville Police, said the incident unfolded on East Beach and Main streets at about 11:42pm when an officer saw a white Nissan sedan fail to stop at a red-light traffic signal. When police pulled over the driver, 21-year-old Diana Tellez, two passengers got out of the car and fled. A third passenger, a 13-year-old male, stayed at the scene and was found with a loaded firearm in his waistband and marijuana.
Officers later found the two suspects who fled: 19-year-old Manuel Galvan, an active probationer, reportedly had a bag with 92 grams of cocaine, a scale, and cash; and a 17-year-old was found with 10 grams of marijuana and tobacco products.
The driver was arrested for driving on a suspended license for a prior DUI arrest, Pulido said. Galvan was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail and the teens were taken to Juvenile Hall.
Parents of the underage kids should be charged with child neglect for not keeping care of their kids.
