Christian Quintero, Pajaro Valley, (Sr.): Pajaro Valley’s star point guard was named the Pacific Coast Athletic League’s Cypress division Most Valuable Player last season.

During the Grizzlies’ 10-game league slate the 6-foot-1 guard averaged 24.6 points on 43.4 percent shooting, according to the stats kept by MaxPreps. He also averaged 5.9 rebounds and 3.2 steals per league game.

Quintero helped lead Pajaro Valley to a 17-10 overall record. All of his averages were up from his sophomore season, and he led the Grizzlies to their first-ever Central Coast Section quarterfinal appearance.

Quintero was part of a volleyball team that saw many lineup changes last season and some of the less-experienced players like him stepped it up. He was named to the All-PCAL Mission division Richard Chamberlin All-Sportsmanship Team.

According to MBayPreps.com, Quintero recorded 182 kills to go along with 23 digs, 25 blocks and 34 aces.

He will be part of a more experienced group that includes reigning PCAL-Mission division Defensive Player of the Year, senior Dennar Ocampo, first team selection senior Marcos Arreola and second team selection junior Daniel Rocha.
