WATSONVILLE — Watsonville Police arrested a man Sunday afternoon after a witness saw him with a gun outside of a popular family restaurant.
Alfredo Jose Garcia, 32, was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a loaded firearm in a public place and possession of a controlled substance. His bail was set at $25,000, the WPD reported.
He was not in custody Monday afternoon, jail records showed.
Officers responded to a call of a man with a gun at the Applebee’s restaurant at 1105 South Green Valley Road and placed the restaurant on lockdown.
Garcia reportedly tried to walk away as soon as he spotted the officers, but was quickly arrested, police said.
The officers found a gun in Garcia’s waistband, and suspected cocaine in his pocket. He also had two loaded magazines in his car, police said.

“Because of this person’s actions, our officers were able to disarm and arrest Garcia without anyone getting hurt,” she said.
