Robert JM Crumpton died peacefully on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019 at his home, surrounded by family. He was 86.
Mr. Crumpton was born to Robert and Beatrice Crumpton on Sept. 24, 1932 in Lubbock, Texas. In 1939, he moved to Watsonville where he met his wife Barbara Rapoza. They married in 1952 and were married for 59 years. Mr. Crumpton was drafted to the Korean War in 1954 and worked for Southern Pacific Railroad and later on, as a Facilities Supervisor at the Post Naval Graduate School for over 30 years. He was a former bishop of the LDS Church and also a Boy Scouts Leader for over 50 years. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and taxidermy.
Mr. Crumpton is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara. He is survived by his children, Mark (Penni) Crumpton, Russ (Retha) Crumpton, Kris (Kathleen), Teri (Jose) De La Torre, Toni (Gerald) Ketterling; 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS. Burial to follow at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park. A reception will be held after burial, at the church. Donations can be made to S.C. Hospice Foundation.
