WATSONVILLE—Pajaro Valley Unified School District is asking residents to help honor the district’s 1,179 graduates by turning on their outdoor lights and decorating their yards between May 25-29.

The “Lights On Grads” and Yard/Door Decoration Event is a way to give graduating seniors a send-off after every commencement ceremony was canceled due to concerns over Covid-19.

From June 1-4, each high school will host a drive-through graduation event at their site, during which seniors inside their vehicles will receive a bag containing their diploma cover, accomplishment medals, soles, sashes and programs.

PVUSD will hold a virtual graduation for all seniors on June 5, and the graduates will return for a reunion/graduation event in the winter or spring 2021.
