Watsonville man arrested in connection with January shooting in Live Oak

WATSONVILLE—Deputies from the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect in Watsonville Tuesday on suspicion of attempted homicide in a Jan. 13 drive-by shooting in Live Oak.

Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Ashley Keehn said deputies arrested Daniel Anthony Tostado, 19, at a home on the 900 block of Freedom Boulevard around 11am.

He is believed to be involved in a January shooting in which a man was shot at a crosswalk on the 2500 block of Soquel Drive in Live Oak. He was expected to survive the shooting that allegedly came from a black BMW sedan.

“We are still investigating if there were others involved,” Keehn said.

Tostado, who lives in Watsonville, is being held at the Santa Cruz County Jail on a $375,000 bail for charges of first degree murder and promoting a criminal street gang, Keehn said.
