Assemblymember Robert Rivas will be accepting entries from the public for new laws, under his ‘There Ought to be a Law’ program.
Rivas brought the program to his district in 2019, and for the third year, Rivas will review policy proposals from his constituents in the 30th State Assembly District. The 30th Assembly District includes Watsonville, and Rivas welcomes ideas for laws or policies that touch on local or statewide initiatives.
To date, Rivas has introduced two policy proposals submitted through ‘There Ought to be a Law’ Programs: AB 3153 (2020; Sustainable Transit Zoning) and AB 1144 (2021; Cottage Food Operations). AB 1144 was signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom in September.
