A firefighter from Cal Fire chases down flames in a wild land fire that ignited on sloping terrain off of Harkins Slough Road behind Pajaro Valley High School Wednesday. Cal Fire Battalion Chief Sam Filson said the 2pm blaze burned about a half acre of mostly dry grass and low brush. No buildings were damaged. A crew from Pacific Gas and Electric also responded to coil up a length of power line that toppled to the ground just before the fire. One worker said the lines carried 21,000 volts. Firefighters were on the scene for several hours in mop up operations. A large plume of brown smoke wafted over a portion of the Pajaro Valley before crews stopped the flames.
