The Pajaro Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees on Wednesday are scheduled to appoint an interim superintendent to take the top spot while the district conducts a national search for a permanent one.
Also during that meeting, the trustees will select a firm to conduct the search, choosing between Omaha, Neb.-based McPherson & Jacobson, which would charge $29,800.
Glendora, Calif.-based Leadership Associates—which conducted the previous search when Rodriguez was hired—would charge $26,500.
The trustees discussed the matter and selected an interim in closed session on July 3, but no officials can publicly say who they chose until the Wednesday meeting.
PVUSD’s top spot opened last month when Michelle Rodriguez announced that she had taken the superintendent position at Stockton Unified School District.
The trustees on June 28 appointed Chief Business Officer Clint Rucker as acting superintendent until an interim could be hired.
The PVUSD Board of Trustees will meet Wednesday at 7pm at The Towers, 292 Green Valley Road in Watsonville. For information, visit pvusd.net/District/Board/index.html.
Why not promote from within and save the 29,800 you want to blow on a search done by an out of state headhunter who isn’t familiar with our town. I’m sure there are plenty of very qualified candidates right here in managerial positions that could do an excellent job. Local candidates know the demographics of our county unlike a business in a another state that doesn’t know much about us. What a waste of our tax dollars.
