Watsonville firefighters chase down hot spots in a wild land fire that broke out Monday at 4:50pm on Ohlone Parkway at Main Street. Division Chief Corey Schaefer said firefighters got a quick handle on the flames that tore through dry brush but did not threaten any structures. He added that about quarter of an acre was blackened. A huge wall of smoke, driven by strong gusts, wafted across Main Street and into the Clifford Avenue neighborhood. Schaefer said a witness told him someone was seen setting trash on fire inside a dumpster at the center of the blaze.
