More than 100 people took part in the 16th annual Breastfeeding Health Fair and Walk in downtown Watsonville on Aug. 11.
The event took place in Watsonville City Plaza where a wealth of information tables were set up alongside the Watsonville Certified Farmers Market, the four-hour event included family activities, a live DJ, community resource booths, snacks, free T-shirts, raffles and more.
Breastfeeding awareness is celebrated throughout California during August, as part of an effort to highlight the benefits of breastfeeding and support breastfeeding mothers in the community.
It was hosted by Community Bridges’ Women, Infants & Children (WIC) Nutrition Program, which serves approximately 500 pregnant women each month. Most are monolingual Spanish speakers who work in the agriculture industry.
