Skillicorn BBQ benefits Scouts
The Skillicorn BBQ returns Aug. 23 at the Corralitos Padres Hall, 35 Browns Valley Road, beginning at 5pm.
The event is a major fundraiser to support the Scouts BSA programs in the Greater Pajaro Valley of the Loma Prieta District. Since its inception, it has raised more than $575,000.
This year, the event will recognize Clint and Karen Miller with the Friends of Scouting Award.
It will also honor 16 Scouts from the Pajaro Valley and Loma Prieta District who earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 2022.
The Skillicorn BBQ Scholarship and Skillicorn Family Ranches Scholarship will be presented to Scouts who are seniors in high school.

Car show returns to Elks Lodge
The Watsonville Elks Lodge, 121 Martinelli St., will host a car, truck and motorcycle show on Aug. 26.
The show runs from 10am to 3pm with judging at 2pm.
Music and tri-tip sandwiches will be served.
All money raised will go to funding Elks projects.
