Ted Crocker (left), founder of Crocker’s Lockers, is joined by Supervisor Felipe Hernandez (right) and others Friday in a groundbreaking ceremony for a new Crocker’s Lockers self-storage facility on Airport Boulevard at Nielson Street in Watsonville.

Crocker, a Watsonville High graduate, class of ’62, formed his business with his brother, Richard, and they kicked off their 50-year anniversary at the event Friday.

In the works is a 150,000-square-foot site on five acres, with both single-story and two-story buildings at an abandoned parking lot beside Watsonville Community Hospital.
