pvusd trustees

The Pajaro Valley Unified School District is asking the public to help in its search for a new superintendent.

In a series of trilingual input sessions lasting through Thursday, the district will ask what characteristics the new superintendent should have to best meet the needs of students.

There will also be a virtual session in Spanish on Nov. 13 and in English on Nov. 15.

The district has been seeking a new superintendent since Michelle Rodriguez left in June. The Board of Trustees in July appointed former Watsonville High School Principal Murry Schekman as interim superintendent.

Anyone who cannot attend the live or virtual sessions can fill out a survey at surveymonkey.com/r/DSN28SQ.

  1. We have plenty of qualified people in Santa Cruz County that could do the job of superintendent well. Stop spending money to find an out of towner and respect our local leadership enough to hire locally.
Locals know our area and our demographics and what’s needed to educate the students. Look at all the schools, find out which school is doing best with testing results and educating the students, and hire that person. PVUSD always seems to hire someone who doesn’t know, understand or care about local needs for students. The test scores for EA Hall students are horrible. Who can increase the test scores by better educating the kids is who you want to hire. PVUSD is foisting on the community, students that they graduate that can’t read, add two plus two and conduct themselves poorly in the community. They also want voters to vote yes on a proposed measure asking for 350 million while they are doing a poor job of educating the kids. Bad idea after reading about how poorly the kids are doing. When we went to school in Watsonville, once a month on recess, we cleaned up our school grounds of any garbage. We all helped keep our schools clean. Now, the schools look like garbage and no one cares about it.
