Fiestas Patrias will host its annual Cinco de Mayo Festival in downtown Watsonville Sunday with live music, food, folkloric dance, food booths, information tables and arts and crafts.
Held at Watsonville Plaza and surrounding streets, the free event in the plaza and surrounding streets will feature music by Mariachi de Javier Diaz, and other popular bands from Mexico, including Mar-K de Tierra Caliente and Grupo Desesperado.
Fiestas Patrias de Watsonville is an all-volunteer community organization that aims to support local downtown businesses.
“The annual festivals of Fiestas Patrias bring residents together from throughout the Monterey Bay Area to celebrate and to learn about the heritage and culture of Mexico,” said Fiestas Patrias spokeswoman, Sayo Fujioka.
This year’s festival is made possible thanks to donations and support from the City of Watsonville, The Ow Family, Cassidy’s Pizza, Supervisor Felipe Hernandez, Second Harvest Food Bank, El Pajaro, Community Development Corporation, Pajaro Valley Prevention Student Assistance and many more.
The festival runs Sunday, May 5 from 11am–5:30pm in Watsonville Plaza.
