LOCAL ART Waverly Liu works on a watercolor painting of the Stockton Bridge in Capitola Wednesday morning. She joined 40 area artists as part of the annual Capitola Plein Air; Artists Paint the Town. From Oct. 21-26 artists fan out around the village to capture images in a variety of media. On Oct. 25, the public can meet the artists at Esplanade Park in the village between 10am-2pm. Then, on Sunday, an exhibition and sale takes place at New Brighton Middle School, 250 Washburn Ave. between 11am-4pm. For information, visit bit.ly/4dU0EYZ

He also reports on a wide range of topics, including police, fire, environment, schools, the arts and events. A fifth generation Californian, Tarmo was born in the Mother Lode of the Sierra (Columbia) and has lived in Santa Cruz County since the late 1970s. He earned a BA from UC Santa Cruz and has traveled to 33 countries.
