A man considered a sexual predator was arrested Wednesday morning in Capitola when Capitola Police and U.S. Marshals served a federal search warrant on the 1100 block of Sutherland Lane.

George Paul Bishop was wanted for failing to register as a violent child sex offender, Capitola Police said. Bishop had been on the run since 2016.

Investigators had learned that Bishop had been living under the alias, “Brody Levesque,” and was living in Santa Cruz County. He had been living in Capitola for the past two years, police said.

Aside from being a federal fugitive, Bishop is a registered sexually violent predator with history of producing and distributing child sexual assault material and sex trafficking, Police said. Capitola Police Detectives are currently investigating any further potential crimes of such nature.

The Virginia sex offender registry shows he was convicted in 2005 of three counts of producing, distributing or financing child pornography.

Bishop is being held in Santa Cruz County Jail without bail.
