Thousands of people gathered at the Governmental Center in Santa Cruz and in City Plaza in Watsonville Saturday for No Kings Day.
The first-of-its-kind event was held in 2,000 cities nationwide to protest President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, and as a counter-demonstration to the $45 million military parade he was holding in Washington D.C. to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the formation of the U.S. military, and his birthday.

Great article.
So many young people today!
Many more brown people in the crowd. Huge PEACEFUL crowd.
Impressive.
Democracy as a verb.
i was delighted to carry my banner and wear my T shirt “EVEN MY DOG HATES TRUMP” to the rally. the noise from honking horns was truly amazingly loud. the people were outraged by the thuggery treatment of our US SENATOR ALEX PADILLA, the death of one state legislator in Minnesota and the servere wounding of ahother simply because they are Democrats. it figures the suspect’s name is VANCE, our wannabe vice president. Maga members tend to be cowards, and this one pretended to be a Minnesota police officer.
thanks to Watsonville Police Department and being on duty to protect us, not attack us.
and yes, Charlie Singer, i am one of those proud brown people, and gay as well . Cabrillo trustee Steve Trujillo
You must be so proud. Easy to do when you lack any sort of intelligence. Calling people cowards while your point of view is backed by the media and corporations is hilarious. Tell me you’re in a cult without telling directly.
