Santa Cruz County Supervisor Felipe Hernandez will host a town hall meeting tonight, Oct. 27, to discuss potential rules for battery energy storage systems (BESS).

Hernandez will be discussing a potential new ordinance that he says would govern safety, transparency and ensure local control for new BESS locations.

This could include a facility planned for Minto Road in Watsonville.

The supervisors are scheduled to review the Draft BESS Ordinance at their November 18 Board meeting.

The talk is scheduled from 5:30-7pm in the Watsonville City Council chambers at 275 Main St. in Watsonville.
