The City of Watsonville has started a new electric vehicle car sharing program, where anyone over 21 with a valid driver’s license, a relatively clean driving record and a valid credit, debit, or bank card can access EV car-sharing.

Starting at $4/hour, MioCar allows the public to drive an EV for errands, hauling groceries, and more.

The program is supported by a $786,680 grant from the California Air Resources Board, helping cover vehicle costs, staffing, and community outreach.

Several of the cars ,which are Hynundai Ioniq5s, are sprinkled around the city at EV charging stations, including at Watsonville Municipal Airport, the Parking structure at the Civic Plaza Building and beside the Youth Center at Maple and Union streets.
