McGregor Drive will be fully closed between Park Avenue and State Park Drive from 6am. to 3:30pm Wednesday, Feb. 18, and Thursday, Feb. 19, weather permitting, due to construction on Highway 1.

The closure is part of a project to build northbound and southbound auxiliary lanes and add bus-on-shoulder improvements. Crews will conduct overhead work for the Mar Vista Bicycle and Pedestrian Overcrossing, including lifting operations and removal of temporary support structures. The work cannot be done safely with traffic on the road, according to project officials.

Through traffic will be detoured via Highway 1 between the Park Avenue and State Park Drive interchanges. Local access will be maintained up to the closure points where possible.

The two-day shutdown is the first of several intermittent closures planned over the next eight months, totaling about 25 working days. Each closure is expected to last two to three days and will be announced in advance.

Electronic message signs will be posted to alert motorists. Travelers are advised to plan ahead, allow extra time and follow posted detours.
