The Timber Fire in Big Sur has burned 5,626 acres and is 27% contained as of Wednesday.
“Containment of the Timber Fire continues to increase,” said CAL FIRE Battalion Chief Josh Silveira.
To date, no homes in Big Sur have been damaged or destroyed. Nearly 2,000 personnel, along with aircraft, heavy equipment and logistical support, are assisting with the response, with resources coming from across California and federal partners from around the country.
The ongoing closure of Highway 1 changed on Wednesday: The north side of the closure moved to just half a mile south of Deetjens Big Sur Inn near mile marker 42.6.
On Wednesday, the sheriff’s office listed MRY-FO27-A as an evacuation warning. Zones MRY-F023, MRY-F025 and MRY-F026 were made evacuation warnings on Tuesday.
Evacuation orders remain in effect for MRY-F027-B and MRY-F028-A. Evacuation warnings remain in effect for MRY-F027-A, MRY-F023, MRY-F025, MRY-F026, MRY-F021-B, MRY-F022, MRY-F024, MRY-F028-B and MRY-F029.
