An 81-year-old woman suffered major injuries early Monday after she was struck by an SUV in a hit-and-run crash that led to an arrest two days later of a 78-year-old woman.
The victim was walking across Cynthia Drive at Tuttle Avenue around 6:30am in the senior neighborhood of Pajaro Village in Watsonville when the white newer model SUV smashed into her and knocked her onto the pavement.
As she began yelling for help, the SUV sped off. On Wednesday afternoon, police arrested Inesia Bravo Pinong at her Cynthia Drive home.
She is now cooperating with the investigation, said Watsonville Police spokeswoman Erika Vazquez.

During the investigation, officers gathered information from witnesses and surveillance video from surrounding homes and businesses. The leads aided WPD’s traffic unit in finding the suspect’s SUV, identity and address.
The victim suffered major injuries and was taken to an out-of-county trauma center and is recovering, Vazquez said.
Watsonville Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call 471.1151.
