WATSONVILLE — J.C. Anderson died on Saturday, June 3, 2017 following a heart attack and pneumonia. He was 93.

A 36-year employee of the city of Watsonville, Mr. Anderson was born to a farming family in Missouri, which later located to Arkansas. In 1945, he moved to California. There, he became reacquainted with the Drewry family, whom he had known in Arkansas. In October 1946, he married Jo Elizabeth Drewry in Santa Cruz. At the time of Mr. Anderson’s death, he and Jo recently had celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. She died 12 days after J.C.’s death. The Andersons had five children.

Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by sons, Leon and Larry. He is survived by sons, Michael and Stephen; daughter, Jodi Frensley; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild to be born in July.

Services will be held on June 30 at 10:30 a.m. and will take place at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel, 609 Main St. in Watsonville.
