WATSONVILLE — A 10-year-old boy was taken to a trauma center after he was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle.
According to Watsonville Fire Capt. Corey Schaefer, the boy was riding on the sidewalk in front of the Stone Creek Apartment complex on Lighthouse Drive at about 3:15 p.m. when he was hit by a gray Honda Accord making a left turn into the complex.
The impact threw the boy onto the hood and then the ground, where he hit his head, suffered abrasions and injured his right leg, Schaefer said.
The impact also jammed the bicycle’s pedal into the grill of the vehicle, lodging it there.
