Seminars focus on natural remedies
WATSONVILLE — Watsonville SDA Church, 700 South Green Valley Road, will host a free “Natural Remedies Weekend” on July 29 and 30 with instructor Carola Janiak, MS, RN, LMT.
The weekend kicks off at 4 p.m. on July 29, with a personal story and Christian music. Light snacks will be offered at 6 p.m., and a seminar on hydrotherapy at home will be held from 7-9 p.m.
On Sunday from 1-4 p.m., natural remedies for joint inflammation, menopause symptoms, shingles and more will be presented.

WATSONVILLE — Every Friday afternoon from 3-5 p.m. at the Watsonville Public Library, 275 Main St., Suite 100, movies will be shown in the meeting room.

WPD to give talk on disaster preparedness
WATSONVILLE — The Watsonville Police Department will give a presentation on how to be prepared for an office emergency during a luncheon on July 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Watsonville Elks Lodge, 121 Martinelli St.
The presentation will describe what steps employees can take if an incident such as an active shooter or fire strikes the office.
The event, put on by the Pajaro Valley Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, will include lunch from Five Star Catering.

Food, microbrews and more at fair
LA SELVA BEACH — The Books & Brews La Selva Beach Summer Fair will return July 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at La Selva Beach Clubhouse, 314 Estrella Ave.
More than 30 art and craft vendors will offer their handcrafted goods. A book sale featuring all genres of used books will also take place.
The fair also includes a bake sale, Ate3One Food Truck, live music, local microbrews, kids crafts and more.
It is sponsored by La Selva Beach Improvement Association, Friends of the La Selva Library and Aptos/La Selva Community Emergency Response Team.

Metro Advisory Committee member sought
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY — The Metro Advisory Committee currently has an opening.
The purpose of the MAC is to provide a citizen forum (advisory committee) in which the METRO Board of Directors and CEO/general manager can delegate topics for discussion and in which recommendations can be formulated and communicated to the METRO Board of Directors. MAC may also address issues which members of the public raise with respect to the services provided by METRO.
MAC members should be current frequent riders of the fixed-route, paratransit or commuter services provided by Santa Cruz METRO and should approach their review of topics from a regional thinker perspective in their review of matters referred by the METRO Board of Directors or the CEO/general manager.
