WATSONVILLE — Eleasar Salgado died peacefully surrounded by his family at Watsonville Community Hospital on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017. He was 84.
Mr. Salgado was born to Miguel Salgado and Ofelia Fernandez on May 17, 1933 in Michoacán, Mexico. He and his family settled in this community 40 years ago. Before retiring he was a field worker in the strawberry farms for 20 years. He was friendly and loved by all. Mr. Salgado would dress up and always be looking good. He had so much wisdom and would like to tell stories. Mr. Salgado instilled good values to his children to be hard workers, respectful, honest, strong, responsible, and have faith in God.
Mr. Salgado is survived by his three sons, Miguel, Jose Juan, and Juan Gabriel Salgado; five daughters, Gloria, Elvira, Lilia, Olga, and Marisela Salgado; 23 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Aurelia Fernandez (1997).
Visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Sunday, Aug. 6 from 5-9 p.m. with the rosary recited at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at St Patrick’s Church on Monday, Aug. 7 at 1 p.m. with burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
