Watsonville seniors Noe Robledo, Augustin Sorroza and Francisco Gonzales were all recently named to the Monterey Bay League Gabilan’s First Team by coaches from around the league.
The Wildcatz trio was part of the seven locals who made the First Team.
Pajaro Valley senior Alexis Rincon and junior Jairo Membreno and North Monterey County juniors Alvaro Rocha and Raul Magos also made the MBL-G’s 16-man First Team.
Alisal’s Edvardo Miranda was named the league’s Most Valuable Player for leading the Trojans to a perfect 12-0 record and their fourth MBL-G title in the last five years.
Robledo, Sorroza and Gonzales were all part of a Watsonville team that struggled mightily in the first half of its season but turned it around down the stretch to win eight straight games and make its fourth straight — 18th overall — Central Coast Section championship game.
The Wildcatz took second in the MBL-G with a 6-3-3 record.
Watsonville’s seniors Ulises Cristino-Lopez and Armando Ferro and junior Oscar Rocha; Pajaro Valley seniors Eduardo Viorato and Abraham Cruz; and North Monterey County’s Alfredo Ortiz and Javier Romo made the MBL-G’s Second Team.
In the MBL-Pacific division, Monte Vista Chrstian senior Nick Sando made the First Team, while his teammate, senior Josh Hollingsworth, earned a spot on the Second Team.
Monterey senior Luis Sanchez and Palma senior Branden Warner were named the co-Most Valuable Players. Monterey head coach Josimar Herrera was named the Coach of the Year for guiding the Toreadores to their first league championship.
