Tai Chi class raises funds for Corralitos Cultural Center

CORRALITOS — Across the globe, people of all ages have been practicing Tai Chi to increase balance, strength and flexibility.

Locally, a group of Tai Chi students and their instructor, Helena Fox, have been practicing at the Corralitos Cultural Center on Hames Road since 2006.

“Our roof really took a beating during the last rains and we need a new roof before the rains hit this year,” said board member and organizer of Corralitos Cultural Center’s Raise the Roof campaign, Wayne Miller.

Responding to the need, Fox and her Tai Chi students helped increase their balance and the balance of the roof fund by donating all class fees during the month of July, contributing $700, to the “Raise the Roof” fund.

According to Miller, the roof costs could be close to $10,000 and currently the CCC is about halfway to meeting its goal of beating the rain.

The Corralitos Cultural Center is a 501c3, nonprofit offering classes for adults and children, community library, music venue and a local farmers market on Sundays.
