WATSONVILLE — Mary Helen Preston Carpenter died on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017. She was 77.

She was born on Aug. 24, 1940, and was a long-time resident of Watsonville. She attended Watsonville High School and California Polytechnic State University with her focus on Home Economics. She enjoyed gardening, baking and being with her family on holidays. She also was a big fan of the Giants and 49ers, and was a Girl Scout leader.

She is survived by her four children, Tess Nicholls, Michael Nicholls Jr., Matie Nicholls and Martin Nicholls; and seven grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate gifts made in her honor to breast cancer research through the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 2 p.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, 437 Rogers Ave., Watsonville.
