APTOS — The Aptos High Drama Department is presenting this year’s fall production, “Pride and Prejudice.”
Adapted from the 1813 novel by Jane Austen, enjoy as over 25 Aptos High students bring to life the classic tale of the five Bennet sisters in search of love and marriage.
Watch as the storyline follows the sweetest and eldest sister Jane Bennet (Maya Woods, 11the grade) as she falls in love with the caring newcomer Mr. Charles Bingley (Calvin Nigh, 10th grade).
The outspoken and independent Elizabeth (Quinn Youngs, 12th) reluctantly begins to form feelings toward secluded, wealthy Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy (Ethan Abelar, 12th), who loves her “most ardently.”
The two rambunctious and most social sisters Kitty (Parise Zeleny, 10th) and and Lydia (Sara Pedro, 12th) are on a flirtatious quest for handsome soldiers such as Mr. George Wickham (Nico Vinuela, 11th). With them is the socially awkward Mary Bennet (Ava Totah, 12).
Hoping to marry her daughters off as soon as possible, Mrs. Bennet (Grace Loehrke, 12th) searches for the wealthiest and most agreeable bachelors and hopes they will bring her daughters into large fortune so they will be well provided for.
Mr. Bennet (William Bortin, 12th) wishes the opposite of his wife, as he encourages his daughters to take their time until they find the man they truly want to marry, regardless of his fortune.
This famous romantic comedy will be performed on Oct. 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28 at 7 p.m. There will also be a matinee performance Oct. 22 at 2 p.m.
Each performance will be held in the Aptos High Performing Arts Building at Aptos High School, 100 Mariner Way in Aptos. Tickets are $6 for seniors and children under 12 years old, $8 for students, and $10 for general admission.
