WATSONVILLE — Mariellen Pierson died on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017 at Dominican Hospital. She was 86.
Born in Watsonville to Joseph Phillips and Mary Evangeline Pereira Phillips, she graduated from Watsonville High School and attended Hartnell College. Mrs. Pierson worked as a secretary at Granite Rock for eight years. She was an expert seamtress, making all her own clothes and even her husband’s suits. She also enjoyed gardening and meeting once a month with her “Lunch Bunch” group.
Mrs. Pierson is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; and her brother, Clarence Phillips.
A Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Our Lady Help of Christians Church at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Valley Public Cemetery. Mehl’s Colonial Chapel has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements. Donations are preferred to Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church.
