Corralitos Brewing Co. brings home gold from Denver

CORRALITOS — Corralitos Brewing Co. won the gold medal in the fruited wood and barrel-aged sour category for Zoned Ag with Apricots at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colo. on Oct. 5-7.

A total of 122 breweries were entered in the category, and 7,227 beers entered the competition.

Zoned Ag with Apricots are aged nine months in French and American oak barrels plus three more with apricots. The apricots came from local growers and were added to a blonde beer base.

“Validation, particularly from your peers in the craft beer industry, is awesome,” said Luke Taylor, co-owner and brewer. “We will always strive to make the best possible product for our customers. Now back to work.”

The Zoned Ag series has also included, in order: Zoned Ag with Raspberries, Zoned Ag with Blackberries, Zoned Ag with Peach and Zoned Ag with Pluots. In a few weeks, Corralitos Brewing Co. will release Zoned Ag with Blueberries with Zoned Ag with Golden Raspberries to follow shortly after. All of the fruit used in the beers are from local farms.

A limited number of Zoned Ag with Blackberries and Zoned Ag with Pluots bottles are available at the brewery for $18 each.

SC County Bank declares stock dividend

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY — Santa Cruz County Bank announced that its Board of Directors declared a 10 percent stock dividend payable on Nov. 10 to shareholders of record as of the close of business on Oct. 31.

This is the first stock dividend declared by the bank, following 18 consecutive quarterly cash dividends.

“It is extremely satisfying for our board to declare this stock dividend, which follows the announcement of another record quarter and year to date earnings through the third quarter of 20,” David V. Heald, president and CEO, said. “We remain committed to rewarding our shareholders for their investment with consistent returns and strong financial performance.”

The bank reported a record $2.1 million in net income for the quarter ended Sept. 30, 2017; an increase of 29 percent, compared to the quarter ended Sept. 30, 2016.

For the first and second quarters ended March 31, 2017 and June 30, 2017, Santa Cruz County Bank received the number one ranking for overall performance for California banks by Financial Management Consulting Group and a 5-Star “Superior” rating by Bauer Financial Reports, Inc.
