WATSONVILLE — A 70-year-old man was killed early Friday morning when a vehicle struck him as he crossed Main Street.

According to Watsonville Police Sgt. Donny Thul, the wheelchair-bound man was crossing near the intersection of Main Street and East Lake Avenue at about 5:30 a.m.

The driver stayed on the scene and was cooperating with investigators. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision, Thul said.

Witnesses said the man, who police have not named, was a resident of the Stag Hotel.
