WATSONVILLE — An archway of flowers and sparkling lights welcomed attendees to the 34th annual Evening of Wine and Roses on Friday.
Held in the J.J. Crosetti Building at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds, the event is hosted by and benefiting the Pajaro Valley Community Health Trust. As one of the biggest annual gatherings in Watsonville, it raises tens of thousands of dollars for the nonprofit organization.
According to PV Health Trust’s Development Coordinator Annie Puckett, more than 600 people were in attendance this year. Around 100 items were auctioned off in both silent and live auctions. Twenty-two wineries — all part of the Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Association — offered guests complimentary tastes. Local breweries, restaurants and caterers were on hand as well.
“This is such a beautiful collaboration,” said Caitlin Brune, CEO of PV Health Trust. “It really does show how diverse a community we really are.”
Brune said the organization was particularly grateful and happy about this year’s “Fund A Need,” where (after the silent auction) attendees donated around $13,000 without the incentive of auction items.
“This community is truly generous,” Brune said. “We are deeply appreciative of everyone that came out in support.”
