WATSONVILLE — Charles Galsim DeMayo, known to his friends “Charlie,” died peacefully with his wife of 40 years by his side, on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017. He was 63.

Mr. DeMayo was born to Victorino and Josephine DeMayo on Sept. 1, 1954, in the province of Pangasinan, Philippines, where he completed his schooling. In 1972, he migrated to the United States and started his new life in Salinas. He moved to Watsonville where he lived a majority of his life. In the past few years until his death, he was a resident of San Benito County. He worked 20 years in environmental services for the University of Santa Cruz and most recently, Dominican Hospital.

Mr. DeMayo is survived by his wife of 40 years, Bernardita DeMayo (nee Banez); two daughters, Cheryl (Dennis) and Honey (Edward); three grandchildren; brothers, Arthur (Susan) DeMayo, Felipe (Sally) DeMayo; and sisters, Susan DeMayo and Melinda (Mario) Pereria. 

Visitation will be held from 3-9 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel, 222 East Lake Ave., Watsonville, with the Rosary and Vigil recited at 7 p.m.
