SOQUEL — An 86-year-old woman died as a result of a hit-and-run crash Saturday night in Soquel Village.

California Highway Patrol Sgt. Grant Boles said the driver, Julissa Guzman, 21, of Watsonville was driving southbound on Soquel Drive in a 2012 Lincoln LS at 5 p.m. That’s when she struck the victim who was crossing Soquel outside of a crosswalk.

Boles said it appeared Guzman was driving at an unsafe speed.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. While Guzman reportedly fled the scene, her license plate was left behind.

She was arrested at an undisclosed location and arrested for driving while intoxicated and for suspected gross vehicular manslaughter.
