SANTA CRUZ — A Santa Cruz man was killed Friday night when he was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street, Santa Cruz Police spokeswoman Joyce Blaschke said.

The 29-year-old male victim has not yet been identified.

According to Blaschke, the man was crossing Highway 1 at River Street at about 10:30 p.m. against a red light when he was struck by a 2011 silver Mercedes sedan.

The driver, a 57-year-old man from San Jose, remained on the scene and was cooperative with investigators.

He was not arrested or cited, and the investigation is ongoing. The details of the collision have not yet been released.

Northbound Highway 1 at River Street was closed during the investigation, and reopened at about 2:35 a.m. on Saturday morning.
