The Pajaro Valley High boys’ basketball team suffered its first loss Monterey Bay League Pacific division loss of the season on Friday night, falling to league-leading Seaside High, 49-47.

Christian Quintero had 22 points, 10 rebounds and three steals for Pajaro Valley (9-7, 3-1), while Tony Reyes added 11 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three blocks.

The Grizzlies travel to Alvarez High on Wednesday at 7 p.m

• Aptos 61, Soquel 53 (OT) – Blake Welle had 19 points and 10 rebounds in Aptos High’s overtime Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League win over Soquel High on Friday night.

Rashaun Wooden chipped in 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists, and Max Pepperdine had 11 points, six rebounds and six assists for Aptos (12-5, 4-1), which hosts St. Francis High today at 7 p.m.

• St. Francis 70, Marina 40 – Chase Watkins had 14 points and five rebounds, E.J. Kelly stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, seven rebounds and seven assists and the St. Francis High Sharks cruised to a non-league win on Friday night.

Aaron Soto scored 12 points, Jason Gallo chipped in 10 points and nine rebounds and Joseph Ramirez finished with seven points.

St. Francis (11-3, 3-1), which has won 20 straight at home, plays at Aptos High today at 7 p.m.

• Aptos 44, Soquel 36 – Hannah Hocom had 17 points and five steals in Aptos High’s SCCAL win over defending champion Soquel High on Friday night.

Natalia Ackerman finished with 13 points and 14 rebounds.

• St. Francis 39, ND-Salinas 35 – Chloe Deleissgues (11) and Janessa Yniguez combined for 21 points in St. Francis High’s non-league win over Notre Dame-Salinas on Friday night.

• Christopher 4, Watsonville 1 – Elyanna Magdaleno scored for Watsonville High in its MBL-Gabilan division loss on Friday night.

WOMEN’S JC BASKETBALL

• Cabrillo 71, Gavilan 68 – The Cabrillo College Seahawks rallied for down 13 points at the half to stay perfect in Coast Conference South division action on Friday night.

Pauli Pappas had 20 points, 12 rebounds and four assists, and Teal Maixner finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Cabrillo (14-2, 4-0) play at De Anza College on Friday at 5 p.m.
