Realtors to install officers
WATSONVILLE — The Pajaro Valley Association of Realtors is gearing up for its annual installation luncheon on Feb. 7 at Jalisco’s Restaurant, 618 Main St. in Watsonville.
A margarita mixer kicks things off from 11:30 a.m. to noon, followed by the program and lunch from noon to 1:30 p.m.
The lunch buffet includes grilled prawns, scallops, skirt steak and more.

Black Panthers the subject of history talk
APTOS — The Aptos Chamber of Commerce will present “Coffee, Tea, & History — Black Panthers in Aptos,” on Jan. 27 from 3-4:30 p.m. at the Rio Sands Community Room, 116 Aptos Beach Drive.
In 1978, Huey Newton, founder of the Black Panther party, and his bodyguard were arrested for a shooting at the Mediterranean bar in Seacliff. Presiding Judge William Kelsay will recount the events of the shooting and the preliminary hearing.

Luncheon benefits CASA
APTOS — The Friends of CASA will hold the 14th annual For the Love of Children Luncheon on Feb. 7 at Severino’s, 7500 Old Dominion Court in Aptos, at 11:30 a.m.
The luncheon will benefit the CASA Children’s Fund, which provides soccer camp, tutoring, art supplies and other things children in foster care might otherwise go without.

Bureau of Cannabis Control to hold licensing workshop
MONTEREY — The Bureau of Cannabis Control will host a public licensing workshop in Monterey on Monday.
The workshop, taking place at the Monterey Conference Center, 1 Portola Plaza, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., will focus on what licensing information is needed and what resources are available for people planning to apply for state commercial cannabis licenses.
The Bureau will be joined by other state and local agencies at the workshop, including the California Department of Public Health, California Department of Food and Agriculture and California Department of Tax and Fee Administration.
The workshop schedule will include a brief overview and then transition to an open house where people can obtain information from and ask questions of different state and local agencies. This workshop is free and does not require registration to attend.
