WATSONVILLE — A series of light storm systems out of the northwest is bringing rain to the Monterey Bay region over the next few days. On Monday, showers and heavy mist dampened the region.
There will be a brief break today as it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 61 degrees with a northeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west in the afternoon. This evening will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 41, according to the National Weather Service.
On Wednesday there is a 40 percent chance of rain after 10 a.m. Otherwise, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 59. Rain is likely Wednesday night, and on Thursday there is a 30 percent chance of rain.
“A storm system from northwest will be here by Wednesday,” said Brian Mejia, meteorologist of the National Weather Service of Monterey. “The rain will most likely reach Watsonville by the evening. We’re expecting about a quarter of an inch of rain.”
Mejia said lingering showers will move into Thursday evening and possibly into Friday morning.
