As I complete my second year as Watsonville High School Athletic Director, my appreciation for community involvement and support continually increases. Whether it is the revamped WHS Athletic Boosters planning important fundraisers or dedicated parents and friends attending games and supporting their sons or daughters, it is very encouraging to witness this level of commitment. I applaud everyone’s efforts.

I am pleased to announce the Tenth Annual Watsonville High Athletics Golf Tournament scheduled for a 1 p.m. start at Spring Hills Golf Course on Friday, June 15. I am excited by our recent progress and I anticipate a significant increase in the number of golfers and sponsors who understand the importance of high school athletics and who want to support our 600 student athletes.

Last year in a column I outlined the many benefits of youth sports and the valuable lessons it offers to both participants and spectators. Watsonville High is indeed fortunate to have strong and unwavering support from alumni and friends who value a quality athletic program for all boys and girls.

I again encourage all Wildcatz supporters to set aside Friday, June 15 for a day of great golf, fun and camaraderie. Spring Hills Managing Owner Amy Preaseau and Tournament Director Bobby Powers have used their considerable expertise and skills to work their magic and make this a truly special experience. Please contact Brad Hubbard at [email protected] for additional information.

Thank you for your past and continued support and we’ll see you on the course.
