Rosalyn Meidl passed away on Friday, July 27, 2018 in Watsonville, CA with tranquility, song, prayers and loved ones near. Lean was born on April 27, 1933 in Watsonville and attended Notre Dame grade school. She graduated in 1951 from Moreland Notre Dame Academy. The Sisters of Notre Dame provided a great level of attention and care that Lean always talked about.
She met and married her wonderful adoring husband Anthony Richard “Dick” Meidl and was married for 59 years. They were one, together in sync living a beautiful amazing life together. Together they had 3 children: Cynthia Norman, Steven “Stijepo” Meidl and Elizabeth Hammond.
Her knowledge of Botanicals motivated her to build an incredible elaborate garden, a safe haven for birds she called ‘gods gifts’. She was spiritual and her energy, patience, creativity and knowledge allowed her to be an amazing mother, wife and friend. Lean enjoyed Early American Antiques, observing the ocean, bird watching, road trips around the U.S.A., and her time spent in Croatia was very special and dear to her heart. Her father, an Immigrant from Dubrovnik, Croatia, inspired her family to embrace their heritage. Lean and her family enjoyed many cultural events while being members of SACO.
Lean spent every single holiday with her family, which was always eventful. Lean’s favorite thing about it was to provide the most beautiful setting and a spectacular meal. Lean’s life style included sharing Co-op Antique shops around Santa Cruz County, ending with Co-Ownership of Country Garden Antiques in Soquel. Her love of music brought her and her friends together, sharing good times at the Monterey Jazz Festival. Her close friends remained a very integral, meaningful part of her life. Lean really knew how to live in the moment!
She leaves behind her 2 daughters Cynthia and Elizabeth, son-in-law Kelly Hammond, grandson Brody Hammond, nephew Nickolas Jr. Brautovich & family, Niko & Luce Brautovic as well as additional family in Mocici/Cilipi, Croatia.
