Jesus Padilla passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a short illness on Monday, August 27, 2018. He was 85 years old.

Mr. Padilla was born in Zacatecas, Mexico, but made Watsonville his home for over 50 years. He worked in agriculture his entire life, as either a sharecropper in the raspberry fields or the cutting and packing of celery. He enjoyed going to the flea market, cooking, listening to music. Most important of all, he enjoyed making his wife and family happy. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

His loving wife, Barbara Padilla, preceded Mr. Padilla in death in March of this year. His heart was ready to join her, and God just granted him his wish. A special thanks to Watsonville Post Acute Center for their loving care. Don Chuy will forever live in the hearts of his family and friends.

A visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Thursday, August 30th from 5-9 p.m., with a recitation of Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated at Maria Auxiliadora Church (Valley Catholic Church) on Wednesday, August 31 at 1 p.m. with burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
