A Pacific Gas and Electric worker helps disable a 40,000-volt power line that collapsed Wednesday on the 1400 block of Freedom Boulevard. Interim Watsonville Fire Capt. Chris Kramer said a cross arm on a power pole broke apart, dropping power lines around 11:40 a.m. Firefighters had to shut down the slow lane of northbound Freedom Boulevard and the sidewalk for safety reasons. A worker from PG&E showed up promptly and killed the power and cut off the dangling lines.
