Miguel Chavez died on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018 in Watsonville. He was 69.

Mr. Chavez was born in Tangancicuaro, Michoacan, Mexico to Maria de la Luz Ortiz and Joaquin Chavez Leiva. He was a generous man that enjoyed life. He moved to Watsonville in 1991. He was an avid soccer fan that enjoyed playing and watching the game as much as he could. He loved spending time with family and friends. He was a dedicated family man that always put them first.

He is survived by his wife, Josefina Lopez; his children, Miguel Chavez Jr., Rosalba Cruz, Juanita Cermeno and Reyna I. Garcia; his siblings, Jesus, Maria, Josefa, Joaquin, Luis and Rafael; and five grandchildren.

There was a visitation service at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel in Watsonville on Sept. 16 with a recitation of the Rosary. Mass was celebrated on Sept. 17 at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Royal Oaks and the burial followed at Valley Public Cemetery in Watsonville.
